Conversion Factors

Define and manage unit conversion factors to ensure consistent normalisation and conversion for reporting of your data

Enelyzer provides flexibility in handling both the unit of raw data and the unit used for visualisation or reporting.

To convert from the raw unit to another unit, Enelyzer uses either:

  • Predefined formulas (e.g., powers of 10, conversion from J to kWh) - fixed in Enelyzer

  • User-managed conversion factors

    • Standard Volume (from m(g)3 -> Nm3)

    • Specific energy (from Nm³ -> kWh (HHV))

    • CO2 emissions

    • Cost

Depending on the category (e.g., electricity, water, steam, natural gas), different conversion factors can be applied.

Versioning of Factors

Because conversion factors can change over time, you can manage multiple versions of a factor and apply them based on validity dates.

Levels of Conversion Factors

Conversion factors can be set at three levels:

  1. Organisation level

    • Defined in the general Conversion Factors page.

    • Serves as a default across the entire organisation.

  2. Country level

    • Also defined in the general Conversion Factors page.

    • Applies when country-specific adjustments are needed.

  3. Facility level

    • Also defined in the general Conversion Factors page.

    • Applies when facility-specific adjustments are needed.

    • Only available for conversions of a tag to a unit different from the normalised unit.

  4. Time Series / Tag level

    • Managed in the Factors tab of the specific time series or tag.

    • Overrides all other factors (organisation, country and facility)

    • Country/Facility context:

      • For tags, the country or facility is derived from the linked asset.

      • For time series, you can manually set the country to apply the correct country-specific factor.

When multiple levels have a factor set, the most specific level takes priority. Example: A factor set at the tag level will override the one set at the organisation level.

In the Factors page, you can always see which factor level is currently applied to a time series or tag.

Conversion Factor Page

The Conversion Factors page provides an overview of the factors applicable to the categories in your organisation’s dataset.

  • Undefined: Displayed when no organisation-scoped value has been set.

  • Set Now: Click to define an organisation-scoped factor.

  • Branch icon: Use to create a country- or facility-specific factor.

  • Arrow icon: If at least one country- or facility-specific factor exists, click the arrow to expand or collapse these factors within the card.

  • Pencil icon: Edit the factor value, add a new version, or delete the factor.

Factors Page on Time Series/Tag

The Factors page provides an overview of the possible factors per time series or tag.

  • Pencil icon: Edit the factor value, add a new version, or delete the factor.

  • history icon: to see all (historical) values of the factor.

  • You have a redirect link to the conversion factor page see the details of all factors.
